The days and months following the Destruction of the Tea were fraught with complication and consequence for the town of Boston.  Reactions to the tea's fate were greatly varied.  Some supported the action as a bold attempt to show public frustration at the measures of Parliament.  Others supported this venting of frustration, but disagreed with the destruction of property. Still others saw the event as yet another violent act of a seditious, disruptive, and unruly Boston mob.  Ultimately, Boston was punished for its "Tea Party" with the passage of the Boston Port Bill.  Boston Harbor was closed and military occupation soon followed, leading to a further escalation of tensions between the Crown and Colony.  Barely 16 months after the tea was thrown into Boston Harbor, America would find herself at war.

Join the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum on a 1-hour discussion detailing the consequences and aftermath of "the single most important event leading up to the American Revolution": The Boston Tea Party.
